Parking solution planned in Rossau
Free short-term parking zone creates space and strengthens the economy

Innsbruck on 21.07.2025
Rossau is not only popular as a business location, but also with long-term parkers, as there has been no parking space management for this area to date. The problem here is that the permanent occupation of the public road space across the board means that there is a lack of space for urgently needed infrastructure measures such as footpaths and cycle paths as well as available parking spaces for Rossau users.
What's next?
These shortcomings have already been addressed several times as part of the Rossau location offensive - both by companies and by the city itself. Since we as the district management are the central point of contact for such concerns, long-term parking immediately became a hot topic for us too. We are delighted that we can now play an active role in developing and implementing a constructive solution:
In a joint process, a concept for future parking management was developed, which was approved by the City of Innsbruck in May and will be implemented in summer 2025. A free short-term parking zone is planned, in which parking is limited to a maximum of 180 minutes daily from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. at night. The aim of this measure is to prevent long-term parking on public streets.
What happens now?
The start date for the night-time short-term parking zone is September 1, 2025. In order to enforce the new regulation, priority checks by the Mobile Monitoring Group (MÜG) are planned after a certain period of time. As the new parking solution in Rossau will result in a shift in long-term parking, measures will be developed in parallel for the other areas where free parking is still possible for an unlimited period of time. This primarily concerns the districts of Mühlau/Arzl, the Olympic Village and Kranebitten.
