"INNS" is carried by BRUCK
Every purchase supports the city. Support it too!
Retail Campaign 2026

Why does "INNS" have "BRUCK" in its name?
Because every purchase you make in Innsbruck has an impact in many ways.
You take a piece of Innsbruck home with you—whether it’s a good book, a new piece of clothing, or the perfect gift. In doing so, you “carry” the city with you: Every store you visit keeps a part of the city alive. Without customers, there are no stores; and without stores, there’s no city that’s a pleasure to stroll through.
That’s why we at Innsbruck Marketing, together with the City of Innsbruck and the Zentrumsverein, have launched the retail campaign “INNS’ trägt BRUCK.”
Come check it out! Discover what’s right on your doorstep. And join in!
Through this campaign, we’re raising the profile of local merchants and their offerings on a scale that no single store could achieve on its own. We’re showcasing the diversity of industries, the unique features, the distinct character, and the people—from concept stores to family-run businesses. It’s all about the city and the quality of life it offers, which stems from the diverse range of retail and dining establishments. Here, knowledgeable staff are on hand to offer advice; here, you can see and touch the products; and here, taking a quick break and strolling through the shops are all part of the experience.
Our characters are strolling through the city
... and discover favorite items, a new favorite store, and things they didn't even know existed in Innsbruck. They stroll leisurely along, looking around, discovering, shopping, stopping for a coffee now and then, treating themselves to a slice of cake, and simply enjoying their time in the city.

Where You'll Find the Campaign
"INNS' trägt BRUCK" will be popping up in many places in 2026—on posters, on social media, and right in the thick of things. Keep your eyes peeled: Our characters are sometimes out and about in the city, too!
Starting in late summer, you’ll also find a collection of Innsbruck’s retail and dining establishments all in one place on Innsbruck-lokal.at, so you can quickly find what you’re looking for and discover what’s right on your doorstep.
October 2 will be a special day once again: Under the motto “City On. Stores Open,” the downtown area, the Old Town, Wiltener Platzl, and the major shopping centers will come to life during the Shopping Night . Extended hours, special promotions, and culinary treats will be accompanied by live music and dancing.
Innsbruck as a Commercial Hub
"The capital of Tyrol remains one of the most stable retail locations in western Austria. High purchasing power, a tourism-driven environment, and Innsbruck’s role as a shopping and service hub for large parts of Tyrol continue to ensure stable demand for well-located retail spaces." This is how REMAX Commercial describes Innsbruck as a retail location in its latest press release dated May 27, 2026 (PA REMAX Commercial Retail Space 2026, 3.13, p. 14).
569 Reasons to Shop in Downtown*
In Innsbruck’s downtown area, you’ll find over 569 stores, all within walking distance. Whatever you’re looking for, it’s all there—stores for: groceries, drugstore items, clothing, household goods, home textiles, sports equipment, jewelry, flowers, books, toys... there’s something for everyone.
One of Austria’s largest shopping destinations—with short distances*
In terms of active retail space, Innsbruck ranks among the country’s largest shopping destinations with approximately 152,000m². Three sectors lead in terms of floor space:
- 20.4% “Other specialty goods (sports equipment, jewelry, flowers, books, etc.),”
- 19.9% “Clothing, including shoes,” and
- 19.1% “Food service.”
Why are vibrant downtown areas important?
A bustling downtown is so much more than just a place to shop. It’s where people meet, have new experiences, linger, and strike up conversations—it’s like the city’s living room. Most people no longer come just to shop: a quick coffee or ice cream, a brief hello on the street, or a chance encounter matter just as much. A downtown comes alive not through beautiful building facades and landscaped squares, but through what happens in between. Shops, cafés, restaurants, and cultural venues are what truly bring this life to the city. This is where you get advice, where you can pick things up and examine them, where there are real people “behind the counter”—and so there are many reasons to come back.
One point that’s often overlooked: What you spend in the city stays here to a large extent, securing jobs and supporting local businesses.
A vibrant city center doesn’t just happen on its own. When the right offerings are in place, and people come, stay, and return, a vibrant city center emerges. Every purchase, every cup of coffee, every stroll through the alleys contributes a little to keeping Innsbruck’s city center alive.
