Parking space management in Rossau

The new parking regulations in Rossau have been in force since September 1, 2025: during the day, you can park in the public parking area in Rossau as usual, without a time limit and free of charge. The free short-term parking zone applies every night between 1:00 am and 5:00 am. During this period, parking time is limited to a maximum of 180 minutes and the start of parking must be made visible by means of a parking disk.

The corresponding signs were put up at the entrances to Rossau on the day the new regulation came into force. In the first few days, the Mobile Monitoring Group (MÜG) provided information as a matter of priority, and now penalties are imposed for violations. In most streets in Rossau, the new regulation has helped to significantly ease the parking situation. A fact that is perceived positively by Rossau business owners and their employees. Customers and employees in the area can now find free parking spaces in public areas again.

NOTE: If a car continues to be parked permanently in Rossau, a new, additional parking ticket can be issued every day. The night-time parking restriction applies every day - even at weekends.

How parking space management came about in Rossau

Rossau is not only very popular as a business location, but was also popular with long-term parkers. The reason: there was no parking management for this area until the fall of 2025. This led to permanent occupancy of the public street space across the board. As a result, there was a lack of space for urgently needed infrastructure measures such as footpaths and cycle paths as well as available parking spaces for Rossau users.

These shortcomings were already addressed several times as part of the Rossau location offensive - both by entrepreneurs and by the city. The Rossau district management, as the central point of contact for such concerns, has also addressed this issue. The concept for future parking space management was developed in a joint process, which was adopted by the City of Innsbruck in May 2025 and has been implemented since September 1, 2025. The aim of this measure is to prevent long-term parking on public streets.

What happens now?

As the new parking solution in Rossau has resulted in a shift in long-term parking, measures have been developed in parallel for other areas where free parking is still possible for an unlimited period of time. This primarily concerns the districts of Mühlau/Arzl, the Olympic Village and Kranebitten.
